AMANDA MURPHY

Amanda is SIFCo’s Slocan Valley Firesmart Coordinator.

She is originally from the Slocan Valley but spent 15 years overseas raising her two sons.

Amanda has most recently worked for the Village of New Denver as the Community Services Manager, where she oversaw operations of the Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre and worked with Council to build community engagement and development.

Since moving back to the “Valley” six years ago, she has focused her energy on preserving and promoting the unique culture that is so highly cherished by its residents.

Amanda values her close connections with her family, community and the local landscape. She escapes to the mountains or across Slocan Lake whenever the metropolis of New Denver becomes too much.
