Cortes Island folks have been working for a community forest since the 1990’s and are now joint tenure holders with their local First Nation. Stephan (SIFCo's Manager) met with their board and then attended a community meeting where approximately 50 people were present, to discuss SIFCo’s philosophy and successes.
A meeting has been planned where both Stephan Martineau (SIFCo Manager) and Tom Bradley (Forestry Supervisor) will be present to meet with the Lemon Creek community to discuss the up and coming Lemon Creek WUI project. During the meeting our plans will be outlined and then left open to discussion with the community members.
