BANNOCK POINT RECREATION SITE FACES NEW ISSUES DUE TO CHALLENGES BY HEAVY USE

The summer of 2020 has unfortunately witnessed a dramatic decrease in the collective care of Bannock Point Recreation Site. Examples include:

- Large amounts of garbage are being left behind

- Vandalism

- Two camp fires escaped

- Live trees have been cut

This general lack of respect has put a stress on the space itself and has caused threat to the local communities.

Please help us keep Bannock Point Recreation Site FREE, EASILY ACCESSIBLE and BEAUTIFUL:

1. Take out everything you bring in

2. Don't cut or damage standing trees

3. Report any act of vandalism immediately

Due to ongoing damage to standing trees, vandalism, and garbage left by site users, site assessments will be conducted regularly.

If problems persist, it will be necessary to consider making Bannock Point a user-pay recreation site to support a full-time attendant during summer months. Alternately, a gate may be installed at the highway so that Bannock Point becomes lake access and walk-in only. We would love to avoid this and need your help. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY!
